How we began

The devastating bushfires of 2019/2020 gave us all pause for thought: our skies filled with smoke and the stark reality of the climate crisis was made infinitely evident.

Our Story

Some of us took to the streets in protest, and some of us began to put more environmentally conscious practices into place: we gave up meat, we cancelled trips.

For Dan d’Auvergne-Massie though, that wasn’t enough. With his wife pregnant with their first child, Dan decided that he wanted his daughter to grow up in a safer world, and he set about working for that change. Coming from a career in supply chain and logistics, Dan founded One Sustainable Planet: a 1% For The Planet company which creates bespoke, compostable packaging and empowers businesses with sustainable solutions.

Our plan of action

“I guess I was inspired by young people: by the people striking from school and desperately calling for change. The reality of the climate crisis is so real for these young people, and climate anxiety is a common problem: it’s affecting their mental health. The scale and energy of the protests really hit home for me, especially at a time when I was bringing a child into this world. My wife was pregnant through last summer, and I want our daughter to grow up in a world where she can appreciate the things that I’ve been able to appreciate for the past 30 odd years. So that was the motivator for me.”

How we give back
